Nutcase Unframed

 July 7, 2014

Nutcase Unframed is our effort to take fresh and exciting artwork right off the helmet and out into the wider world.

We’ve been working with three very talented artists from around the globe to design special edition helmets: Sandra Ramirez from Colombia, Ray Moore, based in Germany, and Todd Standish from USA.

The collaboration has been so inspiring to us that we decided to share the experience with the international bicycling community at two of the world’s premier industry events:

Ramirez, Moore, and Standish will join us this summer and bring their unique talents to both the Eurobike show in Fredrichshaven, Germany, in August as well as the Interbike show in Las Vegas, Nevada in September.

Working live and directly onto mural canvases at the Nutcase booth, Ramirez, Moore, and Standish will create unique one-of-a-kind art pieces on the spot, letting the crowds watch and experience their creativity in person.

The finished canvases will be auctioned off to benefit one of our favorite bikey non-profits: World Bicycle Relief (WBR). In its nine years of operation, WBR has distributed over 190,000 special, in-house designed bikes to people in economically underdeveloped regions of the world, mostly thus far in Southeastern Africa.

“Our mission at World Bicycle Relief is to mobilize people via the Power of Bicycles,” says Katie Bolling of WBR. “Nutcase Unframed is a unique collaboration that will have an immediate and deep impact in the communities we serve around the world.

Nutcase Unframed has taken us beyond what we know about helmet design, bringing more bike happiness to the planet. We’ll continue to collaborate with WBR and artists globally to get edgy artwork where it belongs: on more heads and out into the world!

Signed special edition helmets by Ramirez, Moore, and Standish will be available in limited quantity at the shows and widely distributed in spring 2015. The artwork created at Eurobike will be auctioned at a separate event after the show, while the artwork created at Interbike will be auctioned during the show at an Industry Awards gala on the 11th of September.
